JOB TITLE: Auto Electrician / Installation Engineer

Overview

As an installation engineer you will be Responsible for consistent day to day delivery of high-quality installation of telematics and other ancillary equipment into a range of motorized vehicles, whilst upholding exemplary customer service standards, acting as an ambassador for the RS Connect brand during your working day. To capture the specific data needed by the companies RS Connect works on behalf of whilst conforming to GDPR rules and regulations to allow the fulfilment of policy needs.

Engineers must be capable of working alongside and integrating into a team of directly employed engineers headed by an area manager. Promoting safe driving and setting an example to other vehicle users whilst on the road is expected and is monitored on a daily basis to make sure standards are upheld

At RS Connect we believe all should have the ability to grow and develop within the realms of their professional capabilities. To enable this our Engineering force is split into 4 separate categories allowing clarity on bookings and a progression focus. As an engineer throughout each of the bands, the expectations and company values stay the same but the responsibility requirements vary depending on each band. Each of the bandings is as shown below;

  • B1 – Trainee engineer NMW – 19k
    As a trainee engineer, you will be tasked with completing some of the more basic installations while completing your training with one of our more senior engineers to ensure competency prior to the day to day installations out on the road.
  • B2 – Skilled installation Engineer 21k – 25K
    As an installation engineer you will be Responsible for consistent day to day delivery of high-quality installation of telematics and other ancillary equipment into a range of motorized vehicles, whilst upholding exemplary customer service standards, acting as an ambassador for the RS Connect brand during your working day.   • B3 – Senior Engineer 26.5k – 28.5k
    As a senior engineer, you will be tasked with all of the above along with the more difficult work our engineers complete. Work such as but not limited to; DVS, Fors, Reversing equipment, stolen vehicle recovery tracking systems and immobilizers. You will be required to have a firm foundation of wiring diagrams and customer service based skills to adequately address and diagnose/repair vehicle repair assessments. Be competent and confident in Training apprentices/trainee engineers and setting the example to others portraying the company ethos and values at all times.
  • B4 – Master technician 30K – 35k
    Our master technicians are our most senior engineers. As a master tech, you are required to have extensive knowledge of both the insurance and fleet market being competent in all of the above along with the ability to lead and manage sites. Perform and execute risk assessments and ensure the high-quality standards for the company are being delivered throughout all installations under your care.

DIMENSIONS

  • Potential direct management of Apprentice
  • Field-based with extensive UK travel.
  • Key Internal relationships: Area Manager, Regional Manager, Call Centre Team, Warehouse Team, Apprentice
  • Key external relationships: Customers, Business Partners.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • You will have good knowledge of Installing aftermarket equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient.
  • Good working knowledge of Telematics and other ancillary equipment
  • Proficient in Using a laptop/iPad to report and capture document and installation data.
  • The ability to identify the root cause of complaints at banded levels, reporting back to your line Manager/customer service.
  • Mentoring apprentices. (desirable)
  • NPPV security clearance/ DBS check.
  • You will work within a team of Engineers to maintain and improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety policies and procedures and requirements in line with best practice.
  • To be the face of RS Connect and the first port of call for customers
  • To live to promote and encourage company values and behaviours.

ORGANISATION

  • Delegates – Apprentice. Managing, supervising, mentoring, and coaching by passing on technical expertise, knowledge and skills, customer service development along supporting the individual’s career advancement.
  • Must have exceptional organisation skills as responsible for holding and maintaining company equipment, including stock, consumables and company vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Up to date knowledge of Auto Electrics and current industry standards
  • Auto Electrician qualification (desirable but not expected)
  • Skills in a field-based customer service environment
  • Proficient level in the use of Microsoft office package
  • Electric/Hybrid vehicle qualification (desirable but not expected)

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES

  • Banding dependant knowledge
  • Knowledge of Trade regulations is desirable
  • Proficient level in the use of Microsoft office package

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £21,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
